May 21 - May 27: Story of the Happy Guru

~~OM~~

I want to tell you a story. There was a guru, and he was always happy. He was so filled with joy, that everyday nothing could shift him from his center. And he passed his entire life that way. When he grew old and he was lying on his deathbed, all the disciples gathered around him and they said: Guruji, before you leave this earthly plane please tell us the secret of your happiness?

And the Guruji looked up at his disciples and said, my disciples, this is very very easy, "Every morning when I wake up, I say to myself, "Do I want to be happy today or do I want to be sad?" And when I get the answer that I want to be happy, then I have a sankalpa. My sankalpa is that I want to be happy, is my firm determination, the defininiton of my behavior. And so I'm happy. If anything comes to try to shift me from my sankalpa, it just doesn't have a chance, because I have a firm determination, a definition of my life. I made the decision to be happy."

And with that proclamation, he left his body. And no one was unhappy, they were all so happy.
