There are basically three kinds of Astrology:

Swabhava (Intrinsic Nature) Astrology determines the intrinsic nature of an individual, his or her basic propensities in life, directions which will be most advantageous to complete unfinished karma, and skills and talents in which an individual will excel.

Shubha Karma (Event) Astrology determines the best time to perform certain types of karma, when to perform which puja, most auspicious times for the commencement or termination of activities, and the appropriate deities to be invoked for the best results.
