In 2014, Krishna Janmashtami falls on Sunday, August 17th.
Lord Krishna is the eighth incarnation of Vishnu. He took birth to foster dharma (righteousness), to promote truth, and to disseminate spiritual teachings.
Swamiji has translated one of Krishna’s classic scriptures, the Bhagavad Gita, which shares universal teachings and has gained world-wide appeal.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna states:
“If you offer Me anything with love — be it a leaf, flower, fruit or water – I will accept it.”
Shree Maa and Swamiji remind us to offer whatever we can, but make that offering with sincere love and devotion, as that is all that matters!
Celebrations at the Devi Mandir
At the Saturday night kirtan, on August 16th, at 6:00 pm PST, Shree Maa will lead us in heart-felt devotional singing to Lord Krishna. We may also celebrate with a few bhajans after the Chandi Path recitation on Sunday at 11:45 pm.
